Prime Rib..... Nobody Does It Better than ?

Lawry's The Prime Rib!!

Service was fantastic but the prime rib was exceptional. Lawry's have definitely set the standard for excellence for their prime rib!

What Lawry's does as the name indicates is to serve the best possible prime rib. What I love about this place is that you feel like you're at home, besides being serving us an amazing meal, the staff go out of their way to make it an exceptional dining experience.

It's a night of food porn, from Lawry's spinning salad to a beautiful piece of prime rib being cut in front of your very eyes - the night just couldn't go wrong.

Here are photos from 2 different nights  - All I can say is Lawry's, you've stolen my heart (when it comes to prime ribs! :)

Photos were taken with the iphone - so a little blurry!

Oyster mushroom chips

Trying to eat healthy and keeping it up certainly isn't easy, so tonight I tried to do something different and decided that I would bake some oyster mushrooms till they are crispy!

Drizzle some olive oil on the fresh mushrooms and some salt and pepper if you like.
And spread them out and into the oven they go!

Check out how great they look!

They were so good! I'm definitely going to bake them again! I had these with a baked chicken with bruschetta. Healthy and delicious (caved in and had a couple slices of bread)

Still a healthy dish overall and very very yummy!

Bedrock Bar & Grill - Somerset

I work around Somerset and probably walk past this restaurant 5 days out of 7 in a week, yet I've never really paid attention much to the restaurant as it always had dim lights and not much of a crowd, however, I'm glad I didn't miss this gem of a restaurant along the Discovery Walk at 313 Somerset.

After much research to satisfy a meat craving, I found Bedrock. As I walked in, I was greeted by the very warm and friendly staff, and was offered some beautifully made naan/flat bread that were warm, soft and fluffy and it came along with some garlic and butter - different from most restaurants, but I LOVED it!

So the options of food at Bedrock is what you would expect of a steakhouse which needs no introduction.

We went simple - the bf ordered a rib eye with the red wine sauce and I had the chopped steak burger. The bf enjoyed his meal - while I felt like mine was simply put - normal. It didn't blow me away, teaches me a lesson for trying something else other than steaks in a steakhouse! We ordered the mac n cheese to share and it's definitely the highlight of our meal. Gorgeous looking and tasting crust with the soft cooked macaroni - I was sold!

Here's some photos of our night

Da Paolo Pizza Bar - Might be the best Pizza we've had in Singapore

Reminds me of the pizzas in Rome - was what the boyfriend said after having his first bite....

Honestly, it was hard to ask for more on this pizza, it had a perfect crust, sufficient toppings and tasted heavenly!

I was definitely impressed. For those curious, the pizza pictured was the Bufala e Crudo - Buffalo Mozzarella, Parma Ham, Sliced Tomatoes, Basil.

We also ordered the Beef Lasagne, no photos of that because we finished it so fast and only remembered i needed photos after :) . The lasagne wasn't out of this world, but it definitely satisfied me.

We will definitely be going back for more!

Ultimate Drive Singapore Review - Take on a Super car

This is not a sponsored post.

After visiting the Formula One race, my boyfriend was feeling the adreanlin rush from all the cars!

To keep the momentum going, I figured I would find something equally exciting for him to get involved in. After a little research, I found the Ultimate Tours.

Basically, you pick a couple of options to drive a luxury car of your choice and pick between a 15 mins, 30 mins or an hour. I do think prices are insane, but isn't life about spoiling your partner and making sure they're happy :)

I chose the 30 mins option also known as the Street to Freeway tour for anyone who's interested and the cost is SGD 468.

When we arrived on site, a few cars were not available so the bf settled for the 'Giallo Mida' yellow lamborghini gallardo spyder. You don't need a singapore driving licence for this, as long as you have a driving licence from your home country ( for tourists! )

Here's some stats on the cards from their website if you're keen:

Engine
Cylinder Capacity
Power
Max Torque
0-100km/h
Max Speed
Ferrari F430 F1 Spider
V8
4.3 l
490 hp at 8,500 rpm
465 Nm at 5,250 rpm
4.1 sec
310 km/h
Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
V10
5.0 l
520 hp at 8,000 rpm
510 Nm at 4,250 rpm
4.3 sec
315 km/h

Honestly, I don't get excited over cars as compared to the BF. He was very excited and really had a fantastic time. I went a couple of days ahead to make payment and get a gift card so he could see it pre driving.

Overall, i definitely recommend this as a gift if you're willing to splurge. I do think the prices are crazy high, and you can pay to get a video of the ride if you're keen - unfortunately I don't remember the price.

Service - Received prompt email replies to my questions, and was an easy smooth transaction to receive the gift certificate. During the drive, the driver that followed my boyfriend fell asleep on his ride - not sure if i'm completely OK with that, but nothing went wrong, so that's fine. View the video at the bottom of the post to watch the drive as well as the sleepy staff driver.

If that's one thing I would change, it would definitely have to be the price. :)

Here's some photos I managed to take of his drive back.....

The happy  BF and I !

Baked Herb Lemon Chicken - Weekend Cooking

The boyfriend and I have been pigging out over our trips - and dragging ourselves to the gym is always difficult, so in line with trying to lose weight, we decided we shall try and eat healthy and of course trying different recipes are a must!

I do have to admit that I play a very small role in the cooking. I am extremely lucky to have a boy that cooks very well, and I am happy to assist with the cleaning and that makes us very productive in the kitchen!

Anyways, this weekend, we tried our hands at the Baked Herb and Lemon Chicken recipe we found online here.

Visit the link for the full recipe, basically we did everything we were told to do, however we had skinless chicken breast which meant the colour post cooking didn't turn as brown as the recipe had intended. However, the recipe was a success, the chicken was moist, the flavor was strong, yet not overpowering and it was just delicious. I shall let the photos do the talking. We left out the Thyme on the recipe because we didn't have it on hand.

Prepping the chicken before we added the wine sauce.
Bought a bottle of the cheapest wine :)

Extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, white wine, lemon zest, lemon juice and dried oregano.

Before it goes into the oven!
TADAH!

End result!

Absolutely delicious- top plate belonged to the boyfriend who had it with some cheese risotto, and bottom plate belonged to me with sauteed mushrooms and bak-choy!

Truly an enjoyable meal!

My ACL Reconstruction Updates

So back in December 2011, i had a fall and split my ACL. I went for physio following the fall and was told by the first doctor that I was fine to go without surgery.

A year went by, and I was doing pretty ok, I JUST COULDN'T RUN! And a year on, my knee started popping more often, getting stuck in one position, and I would suffer from pain for at least a week or two after each knee pop.

For those wondering why I didn't get surgery sooner, it was simply because I was scared. I was scared of the pain, the recovery and I didnt want to burden everyone around me while i was on crutches.

Anyways, I finally decided to "Man UP!" and went for a second consultation and a second MRI in August 2013, close to two years after the fall to find out that my meniscus was beyond repair with a complex tear and with all the popping, the doctor suggest surgery immediately. I was then scheduled for surgery 3 weeks later.

During the three weeks, I was an absolute baby. Every time I thought about surgery, I would start crying or be really upset (Don't judge me).

So the morning of my surgery came by before I knew it and honestly it wasn't as bad as many of the blogs/ forums / posts I read online where people complained of so much pain till they couldn't handle it and suffering the side effects of pain killers.

Besides feeling the sensation of pins and needles for 2 weeks on my leg, I did not feel much pain otherwise. I did go what I was told with the continous icing of the knee and having it elevated and honestly staying in bed for 2 weeks before trying to be a superhero.

Just some photos to give you an idea of what went on.

First Photo: Removal of Stitches! Yay !
2nd Photo: Rocking the knee brace!
3rd Photo: A night out not too long after surgery which resulted in my feet swelling up pretty badly!

I still do have scars that I think look terrible, however I am so glad I've done the surgery and I'm still going for my weekly physio lessons.

A big thank you to my family and boyfriend for being so amazing during my recovery
